Learner response to Ignite – typed up as requested. EBI
covered but no paragraph linking it to your critical investigation.
Critical Investigation proposal – done. The question
probably does need some work – let’s give it some thought. Something like… Why
do horror films like Sinister represent children to be dangerous or evil and
what is the audience appeal of this? This probably needs a bit more work but is
a starting point.
Angle/hypothesis – if you want to focus on audience effects
you may need to change your question. Give this some thought. Otherwise, change
your angle to audience pleasures. Hypothesis is solid – these representations
exist because they challenge traditional stereotypes of children.
Linked production – needs some thought, trailers are
incredibly difficult. Opening scene to a horror film? Think about it.
Not much by way of MIGRAIN research – copy in the rest of
your summer project research (at least what is relevant). Make sure there is
some textual analysis from the film - if not, put it in your research plan!
This will probably make up 500 words (ish) of your essay.
For SHEP – social and political needs work. Plenty to think
about – what effect on society do representations of children have? Think about
moral panics like paedophilia. This also links to politics too.
For issues/debates, pretty good but you need to link them to
your topic. Same with theories – relevant choices but you need to link to your
text/topic.
For the research plan, you've got a start but obviously need
much more detail. Copy it into your Notes and Quotes document but before doing
any research do some more on the research plan.
Publish this on your blog with your next steps in this
project.
3 things I will do next
- find political and social views
- link theories to my critical investigation
- add audience pleasures to my question
